Doc Brock’s definition of “community” isn’t limited to Central Florida and our country’s borders. Here in the United States, even people with financial challenges can have access to life-changing vision preservation and restoration. However, it’s not as easy for many of those with poor eye health in other countries. In 2003, Dr. Magruder initiated an ongoing eye mission program in the Dominican Republic, leading a surgical team to provide cataract surgery and glasses to those without access to eye care. He now makes regular trips to provide similar services in rural Jamaica, where he has restored eyesight in more than 1,000 patients.
